February 26, 2014 New York, NY (PRWEB) Novelist Andrew Warren announced today that his second book, Greta’s Passage, will be available for purchase on Amazon beginning April 1, 2014. This second book, while in the same detailed and proficient style of writing, veers away from the world of intrigue and mystery that Warren created with The Countershaded Ibex. Written as a memoir, Greta’s Passage takes the reader through a woman’s life of unbelievable hardships in her illusive search for mere survival.
Greta begins her journey as a young Jewish girl growing up in a warm, supportive community unaware of the hazards of the outside world. Although her parents didn’t have a lot in the way of luxuries, they were able to give Greta and her brother a happy childhood. As she grew into a teen, life around her began to change and her family had to leave everything behind and take refuge in a busy port city on the Danube River.
In 1941, horrific rumors of death camps began to spread, and Greta and her family were on the run again for the hoped-for safety of the cosmopolitan city of Bucharest, Romania’s capital. Andrew Warren gives us a glimpse of life during that time, from unspoiled friendships to an innocent first love to the arranged marriage to a much older man. Though this marriage imprisoned her, Greta went through with it only to help her family. If it hadn’t been for her life-long friend, a young woman as different from Greta as one can imagine, life would have been unbearable.
Though determined to avoid any entanglements with a husband she detested, Greta found herself pregnant and delivered a baby boy who took her breath away. She adored her time with him and doted on his very existence. At last something to love! But the Communist take-over of Romania, with all its cruelty, corruption, and chaos, crept into her life, and when her husband was arrested, Greta, without any education or skills, had to provide for herself and her son. It was then that she discovered the inner strength and resourcefulness that she never knew she possessed.
Greta’s Passage is more than just a collection of memories; it is a look into the soul of a woman who accepted the hand that fate dealt her and made the most of it. Andrew Warren once again weaves a tale so complete that readers will step into the worn out shoes of Greta Feingold.
“My own life of an immigrant at the age of 17 allows me the introspection of what Greta must have felt,” Andrew Warren said. “I learned that in order to survive, one does whatever it takes. Greta’s lessons and tales resemble those of my mother. I have always felt the story needed to be told and I believe it will inspire others, regardless of their circumstance, to find their strength in their own abilities.”
